Marin County Real Estate Overview | Marin County Home Listings
I’m happy to tell you a little about Marin County and Marin County real estate. Marin is located just north of San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge. I moved from San Francisco to Marin County back in the 1990s because I love the scenery, warmer weather, proximity to the city, numerous hiking & biking trails…and of course the beautiful homes!
The latest census recorded the population of Marin at about 250,000 people and more than half of the land here is preserved as open space. The Marin County Civic Center was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is visited by thousands of people each year. Marin is also home to many companies, including BioMarin, Autodesk, George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch and many more. Major shopping centers include The Village at Corte Madera, The Marin Country Mart, The Vintage Oaks Shopping Center and Northgate. And there are wonderful local boutiques and shops in every town.
The Marin County real estate market is very competitive, with peak season starting in the early spring. There is normally a summer slowdown as residents go on vacation, then another bump in the fall prior to the holidays. For the latest market reports and news, please check out my Marin Real Estate Blog… including this article: “The Top 12 Reasons To Move to Marin County.” I write several articles each month highlighting restaurants, hikes and other aspects that make Marin an idyllic place to call home.
The county features a diverse collection of towns (with gorgeous homes for sale!) and there’s something to please everyone. Please click the links at the top of every page on my website for an overview of each town and the latest new home listings from the MLS system. Each town overview also includes a button you can click to see the open houses this weekend for that town.
